Rebecca’s Journey to Becoming a Counselor

I was born and raised in Montana and one of the things I love most about Montana is the big sky and the outdoors. I am lucky enough to have moved to a place where I am surrounded by what I love.

I started my educational adventures knowing that I loved working with people. I was fascinated by people and how they operated relationally, emotionally, and physically; so, I received my bachelors degree in Psychology. I learned much about relationship patterns, human development, and the brain. So naturally, I could not stop there because I loved what I was learning.

I knew I wanted nothing more than to pursue my love for helping and working with people through counseling. So, I packed up all my things, left my family, and moved to Colorado to pursue my dream as a counselor. I have continued to passionately pursue my growth and development within the field of mental health counseling and all that it entails in my life. My passion and love for what I do has never wavered, and I don’t consider my job work, but rather a privilege and opportunity to help and make the larger world and your world a stronger and healthier one person at a time.

Rebecca’s Approach to Counseling

As a counselor I am very relational and have an interactive style. I strongly believe that growth can only occur when an individual feels safe, trusts, and is in a consistent environment. I work to create a positive, collaborative, and strengths-based approach between individuals and myself. In my practice I work within: talk therapy, experiential activities, EMDRDBT, and animal-assisted therapy.

As I am starting any journey I always like to look toward where I am heading, and I believe in the same approach for counseling. I believe in counseling as we look toward healing, wholeness, and stability we must look at the goals we have to get where we are heading.
