Your Journey to Becoming a Counselor
I was born and raised in the countryside of a small town in Iowa. I enjoyed outdoor activities and sports while growing up. It is a blessing to now live in this beautiful state of Colorado to adventure into the mountains.
My counseling journey also began while I was growing up. I am passionate about justice, empowering others, and wanting people to have a voice. My heart is heavily impacted by the pain and brokenness around me. This led me to pursue a bachelors degree in Psychology at Simpson College in Iowa and then move to Colorado to receive a masters degree in Counseling at Colorado Christian University. As a counselor, I can empower people and assist them to heal and grow. My clients have inspired me and motivated me as I have witnessed them persevere and not allow their past, our society, or their experiences to define them. My hope is that all people will discover their true self and find confidence in their identity along their healing journeys.
Your Approach to Counseling
My counseling style is very relational and person centered. I strive to meet every person where they are and work alongside them to help them pursue their healing goals. Change is a difficult and uncomfortable process, and I am here to help people embrace the process and emotions that come along with it. My hope is to provide an open, peaceful, accepting, and calm environment to facilitate healing and growth. Overall, I have an integrative approach to counseling and utilize Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Attachment Theory, DBT, and Narrative Exposure Therapy.
