My Journey to Becoming a Counselor

I was born and raised in Colorado and have spent the vast majority of my life in the great outdoors. There is something so pure, so beautiful, so peaceful about spending time in nature. I love spending time with animals and observing them in their natural habitat. I love to adventure and explore all the joys life has to offer through scuba diving, hiking, swimming, camping, hunting, and horseback riding.

I started my counseling journey during my AP Psychology class in high school. I was instantly fascinated with this developing science and what it could teach me about our fellow man. That coupled with the overwhelming sense to help people find their happiness in life led me to pursue my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and Business. I have since spent 7 years post-grad completing various work in human service programs such as juvenile detention centers, half-way homes, home care, and case management. All of these moments have called me to pursue a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Colorado Christian University. I love helping people in their healing process and my passion for this work only grows. I hope and strive to make a difference in someone’s life.

My Approach to Counseling

As counselor I take positive psychological and relational approach. I believe that we are creatures who thrive in healthy relationships that emphasize someone’s strength to help tell their story, and then write a new one. I work to create a trusting and collaborative process between myself and the client. I practice within the realms of CBT, Narrative Therapy, animal-assisted therapy, and talk therapy.
