Danielle’s Journey to Becoming a Counselor

I was born and raised in a small town in the Hudson Valley of New York. I loved the seasons, the outdoors, and the close-knit communities while still living within 2 hours of the city.

Helping people has always been a passion of mine. As a child, I would always sonder about the people around me and had great empathy for others. I had many career paths in mind: criminal justice, military, education, nursing and counseling. After thinking hard and taking classes in high school, I found the mind and how people interpret the world around them to be really fascinating to me. To think that all of our brains are wired differently based on experiences, thoughts, emotions and beliefs!

It was in 2012 when I pursued my BA in Psychology with a minor in educational Psychology from the State University College at Oneonta and knew counseling was the right path. Through life experiences, work experience, graduation and more I found myself in Colorado where I now call home. Finishing my MS in Christian Counseling is the next step toward my career goal with more growth and development along the way to ensure competency in the growing field of mental health. I have worked closely with adolescents and adults, young and old, who are struggling with depression and anxiety, PTSD, trauma, and/or developmental delays. This passion is what keeps me going which is an amazing opportunity to help strengthen and build a healthier world one person at a time.

Danielle’s Approach to Counseling

As a counselor, I take a relational approach and embody the core values of respect, inclusiveness, compassion, honesty, cooperation and humility. The role I take as a counselor is to create an open and inviting atmosphere, to collaborate and support you. I believe that everyone has the power within themselves to overcome the struggles they are facing, to develop skills to help with coping and to change the mindset to a healthier one when given the proper tools. As your counselor, I promise to be positive, collaborative, empathetic and nonjudgmental; to meet you where you are at and to listen. I am here for you to feel safe and join you on your journey and support you in your growth.

My passion is to help individuals, couples and families. I want to help others foster healthy relationships through communication and trust. In my practice, I take a person-centered, holistic approach to get through the struggles in life. It can take some time to get there because we are all different, which is what makes us so special and unique.
